About
I’d planned to qualify as an accountant, then do something in the stock market. But reality intervened, and using the early ‘web’ turned me back onto the excitement and possibilities I felt before taking a physics degree. Attitudes on Usenet at the time (helpful, acknowledge sources), reinforced by the Cluetrain Manifesto in ‘99, have shaped the way I work, for better or worse
Fortunately for me, a startup (and a global telecoms equipment supplier with a small UK market share) values people with common sense who will drive tasks to completion. I’ve helped small teams, worldwide, to understand customer needs and successfully compete against incumbent suppliers with much greater resources
As a ‘generalist’, I have a great role : FD of a hi-tech startup, with the chance to influence strategy, business development, marketing, product design, and so on. And I’m a trustee of an arts charity I care about. So, my professional and ‘voluntary’ life is pretty sorted; but if you think I’d like to help you, please read more at LinkedIn, and email mark ‘at’ dreamtime.org
Current interests include collective intelligence, unified communications, mapping, art and music and “House M.D.“. I go rock climbing (hence the tag line) and biking, play football and baseball. And I sit in Boston Tea Party, drinking coffee and reading the papers
Cheers
